[米家華]：“中國館展示的是中國文化、中國科技、中國創(chuàng )造力，作為一個(gè)中國人，我希望中國館的每一塊建材都能夠用中國自己創(chuàng )造的綠色建材，盡管我們的U型玻璃已經(jīng)實(shí)現了國產(chǎn)化，但是它的原創(chuàng )卻來(lái)自德國，這就是我放棄在中國館上使用U玻的主要原因！”

中國館總設計師、中國工程院院士何鏡堂教授與米家華并不相識，卻英雄所見(jiàn)略同，何總設計師一再強調：“我一直有一個(gè)原則，就是讓人遠遠一看，就知道這個(gè)建筑一定是中國的！”

既然一定是中國的，就應該像米家華主張的那樣，讓中國館的每一個(gè)點(diǎn)都是中國元素。當中國館以中國精神獨有的姿態(tài)傲然屹立在黃浦江畔的時(shí)候，這個(gè)紅色建筑才讓大家開(kāi)始理解米家華了。米家華的所作所為，正是中國館濃墨重彩所展示的民族氣節。

盡管中國館的斗拱頂棚上沒(méi)有一片是U玻，從美學(xué)角度來(lái)審視中國館，它依然借鑒了U玻的美學(xué)元素。無(wú)論線(xiàn)條，還是造型，都跟U玻完全一樣。

海南三亞太陽(yáng)灣高級度假區正在建造的柏悅酒店，是中國第一家七星級酒店，7500平方米的外墻使用了超白U型玻璃，成為了這家酒店的最大亮點(diǎn)之一。
